WHAT IS DERMA SHIELD PLUS?
Barrier action, Derma Shield Plus has an added bacteriostatic/fungistatic broad spectrum antimicrobial agent. This will not support microbial growth. Further, two stabilizing components are present which assure a contamination - free product in the container and through the delivery system.

HOW DOES DERMA SHIELD PLUS WORK ?
The Product is specially formulated ingredients which form a chemical molecular bond with the epithelial or top layer of the skin.  The mesh-like bond actually keeps most elements from penetrating into the lower layers of skin where stains, odor retention and damage can occur.  The would-be problem causing elements simply stay isolated on the skin's surface where they can be more easily cleaned off when you have completed your tasks.

WILL MY SKIN FEEL DIFFERENTLY ?
You will feel little or no difference when you are wearing the Product.  Derma Shield Plus is non-greasy, non-sticky, and does not effect the sense of touch.

WILL DERMA SHIELD PLUS BLOCK MY NORMAL SKIN FUNCTIONS ?
NO!  Even though the product have the ability to protect your skin from nearly everything, it still allows your skin to breathe and perspire normally, finally leaving the skin surface by normal sublimation.

HOW DO I USE DERMA SHIELD PLUS?
Using these products is simple.  All you have to do is:
1.  Make sure the areas of skin that need protection are clean and dry.
2.  Apply a golf ball size amount to the skin.  Other skin areas will need varying amounts.  Make sure the entire area is completely covered.  Pay special attention to the cuticles and underneath the fingernails.
3.  Rub the Product over the area you want to protect and let it dry.
4.  When you want to remove something from your skin, simply rinse with water or wash with soap and water.  The unwanted material is removed, but the products' protection remains for approx. 4 hours.

Note: (Certain substances are harder to remove from the skin than others and may require a solvent to remove completely.  The Products' barrier not only protects you from the original substance, but it also protects you from solvents you may need to use for clean-up.)

HOW LONG DOES ONE APPLICATION LAST ?
Once the Product applied and has a chance to dry, the protection will usually last up to 4 hours, depending on proper application and type of protection required.  When exposed to harsh acids, application may have to be more frequent.

WHAT DOES IT PROTECT ME FROM ?
The Product help protect you from nearly everything that comes in contact with your skin.  Some of the more common things it protects you against are: water, gasoline, dirt, oil, grease, cleaning solvents, harsh detergents, copy toner, most dyes and shoe polishes, poison ivy, paint, ink, glues, chemicals and provides temporary protection against most acids and bases, organic and inorganic.  It also helps reduce allergies and skin discoloration from metals and much, much more.

WHAT IS CONTACT DERMATITIS ?
Contact Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin caused by an allergic reaction to contact with an animal, vegetable, or chemical substance; a condition that is commonly associated with many occupations.

IS IT NECESSARY TO WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING ?
In hazardous environments, the Product are only meant to be an additional and/or secondary protective barrier for your skin.  Even though it is extremely effective against most skin abusers, it is not meant to replace normal protective clothing.  If it is prudent, or your job description calls for gloves or any other type of protective clothing, wear it.  Latex gloves often tear or may have small holes.  In these cases, these products provide backup protection.  It also helps protect against irritation that often develops from wearing gloves.

THE PRICE IS TOO HIGH !
An application of the Product from a 12oz can costs only pennies per day (depending on end cost).  The Product are very concentrated; there are approximately 25-30 applications per ounce.  The Products will prevent costly losses and problems associated with skin problems.  Employee health problems are a big concern to businesses.

ARE THERE ANY ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS WITH THE PRODUCT?

FROM WHAT DO THE PRODUCT NOT PROTECT AGAINST ?
We know that the Product will not work against hydrofluoric acid and products formulated from hydrofluoric acid.  The Product does not protect against mechanical burns.  It also does not protect against sunburn.

CAN SOMEONE APPLY DERMA SHIELD PLUS, AND STILL BE PROTECTED FROM THE VOLATILE COMPOUNDS IN RUBBER LATEX GLOVES ?
Yes, two applications of the Product are recommended.

WHAT ARE THE VOLATILE COMPOUNDS IN RUBBER LATEX GLOVES THAT CAUSE ALLERGIES ?
Most contact allergies are caused by mercaptopenzothiazole and zinc oxide, both of which are used as rubber "accelerations" in manufacturing.

IF A CLINICIAN'S GLOVES SHOULD RIP AND BLOOD EXPOSURE SHOULD OCCUR, WHAT IS THE RISK LEVEL ?
Tests have been conducted which demonstrate that blood and all other body fluids are repelled by the film created by the Product.  Therefore, blood in direct contact with the skin is less likely to be absorbed and much more readily removed. The products could also protect those areas not covered by gloves (i.e. forearm, neck, face, etc.)

ARE THE PRODUCTS SUITABLE FOR USE IN MEDICAL SETTINGS ?

Metals such as lead, arsenic and cadmium have been effectively repelled by these protectants at military installations and private sector companies. Use of this product prevents contact dermatitis due to all three of these heavy metal ions.
The success of our products is due to the non-ionic and chemical inertness of the film formed by this product. At Hill Air Force Base, these products were very successful in protecting against acute cases of cadmium ion dermatitis for the employees, when they worked on the F-16 fighter.

IS DERMA SHIELD PLUS SAFE FOR HUMANS ?
Yes.  The Product contains no toxic or hazardous compounds.  Primary ocular, primary dermal and acute oral toxicity tests have been conducted on this Product and the Product is classified as non-toxic and non-
hazardous according to the Federal Hazardous Substance Act Regulations (16-CFR 1500).

IS IT FLAMMABLE ?
No.  However, the propellant in the aerosol foam Product (the same as in shaving cream) is flammable.

CAN IT BE APPLIED OVER A SUNSCREEN ?
Yes, always apply sunscreen FIRST.

WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT FROM SKIN BARRIER PRODUCTS THAT HAVE BEEN ON THE MARKET FOR YEARS ?
Two Reasons:
1.  The Product work.  The skin protection of this product have been proven time and time again. Its' technology is new.
2.  The Product is waterproof, which is a major reason for its' effectiveness.  The directions on "old" skin barrier products advise the user to "wash off" after using.  The Products are technologically advanced.

IS DERMA SHIELD PLUS FDA APPROVED ?
The Product is listed with the FDA as an over-the-counter (OTC) drug.  The product is marketed according to the requirements of the FDA's Skin Protectant Monograph (21 CFR Part 347).

IS IT SAFE TO USE ON OR NEAR THE LIPS, EYES OR NEAR THE ENTRANCE TO THE NASAL PASSAGES ?
The product has been tested in government approved laboratories and shown to be non-irritating to any type of skin, including the lips.  The only suggestion was not to apply the product to any mucous membranes.  Tests conducted by the same labs proved the product to not be an eye irritant.  The products produces no odors which would be damaging to the nasal membranes, the product is essentially odorless.

DOES THE APPLICATION OF LOTIONS OR CREAMS PRIOR TO DERMA SHIELD PLUS  APPLICATION COMPROMISE THE PRODUCTS' ABILITY TO PROTECT OR BIND TO THE SKIN ?
The best way to use them together is to apply whatever cream or lotion desired, rub them very thoroughly into the skin, and then wash away residue which may be left on the surface of the skin.  Then apply the Product as described on the label of the product.  The ability of the Product to protect or bind to the skin will not be compromised.
